A Taunton man is facing charges in connection with an overdose death.

Gregg Miliote, Director of Communications for the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, says that 22-year-old Scott Reynolds was arrested Thursday afternoon in connection with the April 5, 2016 death of 25-year-old Marc Esperanca.

The Berkley resident was found unresponsive in his family home by his mother and rushed to Morton Hospital where he was later declared dead.

An autopsy revealed that he died of a Fentanyl overdose.

Following his dead an extensive investigation was coordinated by Assistant District Attorney Katie Rayburn, and was conducted by Massachusetts State Police Troopers assigned to the district attorney's office, Taunton Police, and Norton Police.

An inspection of his phone revealed that Esperanca had been texting with a then-unidentified person about purchasing heroin.

Esperanca was provided with an address in Norton and instructions on how to retrieve them from the dealer’s vehicle.

The GPS on the victim's phone shows he went to an are of Taylor Court in Norton which was determined to be the home address of 20-year-old Katelyn Keough and that her boyfriend, Scott Reynolds, had been living there and had been selling heroin out of the home.

Keough and Reynolds were stopped while driving in Taunton and two grams of heroin was found inside the car.

Miliote says Keough had outstanding warrants for unrelated matters.

Keough was indicted for conspiracy to violate the drug laws and possession of a Class A drug and arraigned Wednesday in Fall River Superior Court where she was ordered held on $10,000 cash bail.

A Bristol County Grand Jury returned indictments against Reynolds on charges of manslaughter, distribution of Fentanyl, conspiracy to violate the drug laws and possession of heroin.

He was scheduled to be arraigned Friday morning.
