A Taunton man is facing charges connected with a carjacking at the Westgate Mall Tuesday in Brockton.

The Mass. State Police say the suspect was arrested in Stoughton a short time later.

Just before noon time on Tuesday a woman told police she approached her car with her baby. A man walked up, pulled out what later was determined to be a pellet gun, and demanded the woman's keys. He sped off and headed toward the city.

State Police spokesman David Procopio says troopers picked up the chase on Arch Street in Brockton and pursued the suspect's vehicle into Stoughton.

The suspect's car struck a pole on Boylston Street, and he fled on foot but was caught a short time later by State Police and deputies from the Plymouth County Sheriff's Department.  The weapon was recovered in a snow bank.

Thirty-two year old Jose Robles of Taunton was turned over to Brockton Police and was charged with armed robbery, armed carjacking, and other motor vehicle charges.
