A Taunton man was charged with his fifth OUI offense following his arrest Wednesday afternoon.

Massachusetts State Police say that at around 4:30 p.m. a trooper stopped a 2004 Nissan Xterra on Glenn Charlie Rd. in Wareham for a motor vehicle violation.

The driver, identified by his Massachusetts "ID only" as 47-year-old Michael Hackett, was arrested following a brief investigation.

It was discovered that Hackett had a revoked drivers license and he and his passenger also had several open alcohol containers in the vehicle.

Hackett was ordered held on more than $1,040 bail pending his arraignment in Wareham District Court on charges of Operating Motor Vehicle with Revoked License; Possession of Open Container of Alcohol in a Motor Vehicle; OUI Liquor, 5th Offense; Negligent Operation; and Speeding.
