Volunteers will be collecting signatures at the Dartmouth Mall this weekend, in an effort to repeal a part of the recently passed gasoline tax in the state.

State Representative Geoff Diehl of Whitman is heading up the "Tank the Gas Tax" initiative, which looks to do away with the automatic increase with inflation.

Representative Diehl tells WBSM News, during the last fiscal year, the state raked in over $600 million in unexpected revenue.

Diehl is trying to collect 100,000 signatures to get the question to repeal the increase on the ballot.

Volunteers for the "Tank the Gas Tax" campaign will be at malls across the state this weekend, including Dartmouth from 10am-4pm on Saturday and 12-5pm on Sunday.
