Former New Bedford Mayor Lang Wants Immediate Action on South Coast Rail

New Bedford needs to prepare for South Coast Rail while we still have Governor Deval Patrick in office. That's the word from former New Bedford Mayor Scott Lang, who urged legislators and business leaders in the city this morning to lobby for funding to reconstruct hazardous freight lines throughout the area

New Bedford Mayor Updated on South Coast Rail

Though it seems like it's screeched to a halt, Mayor Jon Mitchell says the forces on Beacon Hill are hard at work pushing the South Coast Rail project forward.

Mitchell and other Southcoast elected officials met with Governor Deval Patrick and Transportation Secretary Richard Davey this week, hearing the latest developments on the initiative.
