The feeling of remorse in wake of the events at the Sand Hook school in Newtown, CT have spread around the globe.

How do you explain the unexplainable to children? Today, parents across the country, including myself, were faced with this  -- fumbling over words while explaining the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown - located only 20 miles away from my own daughter's elementary school.

Today I noticed a lot of Faceook posts of people copying and posting pictures of candles, and messages of sympathy. While that is great, to me, it doesn't get to the people who actually need messages of hope and love.

A nation mourns, and a small community in Southwestern Connecticut is shattered by a shooting spree that left 20 young children dead.  It happened at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown.  The total death toll is 27.

A law enforcement official says the suspect in the Connecticut school shootings is 20-year-old Adam Lanza, the son of a teacher at the school where the shootings occurred. A second law enforcement official says the boy's mother, Nancy Lanza, is presumed dead.

As many of us mourn the tragic loss of life that was caused by a shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, some are using it to get political. A big gun-control debate took place today following the tragic events.Here are some of the tweets that went out...

President Obama is getting regular updates on the school shootings in Connecticut.  White House spokesman Jay Carney said the President was first informed about the incident by White House homeland security advisor John Brennan.

President Obama took to the podium on Friday afternoon, and is tone was very somber.

We are living through a day of unspeakable sorrow and unthinkable disaster. In the aftermath, I hope gun control doesn't replace the issues of domestic violence and public grieving.
