Mayor’s Award Delayed After Teachers, Other Unions Threaten To Picket

 

The President of the New Bedford Educators Association, with the support of other public unions, threatened to picket a regional labor dinner in October, where Mayor Jon Mitchell was supposed to receive the prestigious George Ripley award.

Morrissey Named To Head Wind Energy Center

Mayor Jon Mitchell is turning to someone he knows well, to develop the offshore wind industry in New Bedford. 

The Mayor announced Tuesday, he was naming Economic Development chief Matt Morrissey to head the New Bedford Wind Energy Center, the entity created by the city to oversee offshore wind-related development
