It was another year of low voter turnout in New Bedford, with 9.5 percent of registered voters casting 5,618 ballots, the same turnout as in the 2017 preliminary.
The Election Committee counted 1,166 votes in incumbent Dana Rebeiro's favor over Joseph “Jo Jo” Fortes' 1,120, reducing the margin of victory from 48 to 46 votes.
This Monday night will mark the official recount of the Ward 4 ballots from the November 7th election. Election Commissioner Manny DeBrito called into WBSM to offer some insight into the recount process.
