Concerns over COVID-19 have led the City of New Bedford and the New Bedford Half Marathon Committee to cancel the race for the first time in its history.

Each year it attracts thousands of runners competing for cash prizes and the satisfaction of finishing the grueling 13-mile course.

In an appearance with WBSM's Ken Pittman, race director Dan McCarthy of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick said race day is a great day for New Bedford, as it's a chance to show off the city for people who come from all over the country and the world to take part in the race.
