Our 23rd Annual Cans Across the Park food drive was a giant success!  Dozens of community members braved the cold wind and came out to support our annual food drive, dropping off canned goods and non-perishables by the trunk-load.

Our 23rd Annual Cans Across the Park Food Drive returns to Buttonwood Park on Saturday, November 14th. Like the 22 years before it, we'll be collecting non-perishable food items and lining them up from one length of the park to the other.

With the help of some great volunteers and wonderful donors, our 22nd annual "Cans Across the Park" was a huge success.

We are gearing up for our annual food drive "Cans Across The Park" this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The food we collect will go to the Red Cross and the United Way of greater New Bedford.

It's back!  For the 22nd year in a row we'll be collecting non-perishable food items at Buttonwood Park as part of our annual Cans Across the Park Food Drive.

WBSM's "Cans Across the Park" program extended non-perishable food items from Rockdale Ave to Brownell Ave several times thanks to hundreds of donors. Many listeners stopped by Buttonwood Park Saturday, dropping off canned and dry goods to help out those in need in time for the holiday season...

There has been some confusion about "Cans Across the Park." For years it was the Saturday before Thanksgiving, but with Thanksgiving coming so late this year, we decided to hold the event on Saturday, Nov 16. That's not the earliest we've had it...

It has been an annual tradition. Each year, leading up to and on the Saturday before Thanksgiving, we ask our listeners to make a contribution to our efforts for Cans Across The Park.  We have an amazing community that has always helped us reach our goal of making it across the park, even sometimes doubling back.

We would like to thank everyone who came out this weekend for "Cans Across The Park." The girl scouts, the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick, Escape to Fitness, Mayor Mitchell, the Panthers Club, the Park Board and all of the individuals that helped us restock some of the food pantries in the area.

It's always a sight to see as WBSM's "Cans Across the Park" food drive lined non-perishable food donations from one end of Buttonwood Park to the other, and nearly all the way back.
