An elderly is alive and recovering after Fairhaven firefighters responded to a fire at a three-story apartment building on Sunday.

The Department of Homeland Security is awarding the Acushnet Fire Department a $50,000 grant to install new vehicle exhaust systems at both the Russell Street and Middle Road fire stations.
