Massachusetts's newest Mayor has taken the oath of office in front of a standing room only crowd at Fall River's Government Center.

Bristol County District Attorney Sam Sutter was sworn in as Fall River's Mayor on Tuesday. Sutter, who previously ran unsuccessfully for Congress, defeated Will Flanagan in a recall election earlier this month.

During his remarks after being sworn in, the new Mayor pledged within the next six months to create plans to develop the waterfront, Fall River's mills and its workforce.

He also will devise a strategy to combat addiction in Fall River. He says the city has the assets to make it happen....

Sutter plans on stepping down as District Attorney after meeting with Gov. Deval Patrick on Friday and recommending a successor.
