Fall River's newest mayor is set to take his oath of office.

Bristol County District Attorney Sam Sutter defeated Mayor Will Flanagan in a recall election earlier this month. Flanagan was serving his third term. The swearing-in is scheduled for Tuesday morning at Fall River City Hall.

Sutter ran unsuccessfully for Congress and considered a run for Massachusetts attorney general. His office is currently prosecuting a 2013 case in which former New England Patriots Aaron Hernandez has pleaded not guilty to murder.

Issues in the recall election included fire department layoffs and costs of a trash program. A city councilor has also alleged Flanagan tried to intimidate him with a gun, which Flanagan denied.
