Suspicious Car Fire Under Investigation in New Bedford’s North End

A vehicle fire in the far North End of New Bedford is under investigation.

Police and Fire responded to The Willows condominium complex on New Plainville Road before 2am Friday morning. When they arrived at the scene, emergency officials found a red Ford Expedition completely engulfed in flames. It was quickly extinguished.

Fire investigators and detectives are investigating the cause of the fire, which has been deemed suspicious.

The SUV is registered in Virginia, and police say the 64-year-old male owner was at one time a resident of New Bedford. Police have been unable to locate the owner.
