New Bedford Police are asking for the public's help in identifying a suspect in a bank robbery this afternoon.

New Bedford Detective Captain Steve Vicente says the Santander branch on Kempton Street was robbed around 2:15 Thursday afternoon by a man who produced a note claiming he had a gun, and demanded cash.

He was last seen heading south on foot towards Commonwealth Avenue.

Witnesses describe the suspect as a light-skinned male in his 30's, last seen wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, jeans, black and white Nike sneakers, and purple latex gloves.
