Taylor Cormier/Townsquare Media

New Bedford Police are investigating after a man was robbed of $2.00 outside the 7-Eleven on Coggeshall Street.

Detective Captain Steven Vicente says the victim was leaving the store Monday afternoon and dropped the money. The suspect then allegedly stepped on the money and a fight ensued. During the scuffle, the suspect reportedly struck the victim with a bicycle lock and chain and bit him before fleeing on a blue ten-speed bicycle.

The victim was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital and treated for his injuries.

The suspect is described as a white male in his late 20′s to early 30′s, wearing a light-colored shirt and light-colored pants.

Anyone with information is asked to call New Bedford Police.
