A 39-year-old Dartmouth man was arrested Thursday after using stolen credit cards in a number of New Bedford businesses.

The credit cards were stolen in a recent vehicle break-in in Dartmouth.

A joint investigation by Dartmouth and New Bedford Police led to Kevin John Amaral, who is now facing a number of charges in both towns. New Bedford Police have charged him with three counts of receiving a stolen credit card; three counts of larceny under $250; one count of larceny over $250; three counts of improper use of a credit card under $250; one count of improper use of a credit card over $250; and a warrant charge. Dartmouth Police charged Amaral with breaking and entering, larceny and improper use of a credit card.

Amaral was apprehended at the gas pumps at Harss Express in New Bedford. He had previously used the credit cards at Walgreens, Cumberland Farms, 7-Eleven and CVS Pharmacy, all in New Bedford.
