Supplemental Budget Includes Funding For Bristol Corrections Officers

A supplemental budget passed in the Mass. Senate on Tuesday contains some good news for corrections officers in Bristol County. The spending plan includes $1.6 million to cover cost of living and salary increases for the corrections officers, who have long been the lowest paid in the state. The budget also contains $30 million to assist the court system and state prosecutors unravel the legal crisis caused by the state drug lab scandal. The budget has now cleared both the House and Senate, and is headed to the Governor’s desk.
