Suicide At Jail

A New Bedford man, being held after his arrest for robbing the 7 11 on Rockdale Ave last week, hung himself Friday morning at the Bristol County House of Correction. Sherrif Tom Hodgson says that the apparent suicide victim is identified as Aaron Brito. He was in a cell by himself and was not on a suicide watch, after a screening failed to show any mental health issues. A Corrections Officer, making his regular rounds, discovered the victim's body at 1:10 Friday afternoon and a nurse had seen him earlier in the morning. The death is being investigated by State Police.
