Suffolk Downs has dumped Caesars Entertainment in its bid to bring a casino to East Boston.

Sources tell the "Herald" and the "Globe" that the Mass Gaming Commission raised red flags about Caesar's while conducting a background check. The racetrack says it will replace Caesars with another casino manager.

The shakeup comes less than three weeks before voters in East Boston and Revere head to the polls for a referendum on the proposed project.
