ACUSHNET - Former Greater New Bedford Voc-Tech High School Superintendent Michael Shea apparently has trouble staying a former superintendent.

Since retiring from Voc-Tech in 2011, Shea has served as interim superintendent for both New Bedford and Dartmouth public schools.

The Town of Acushnet is now tapping Shea to fill in for a year as outgoing superintendent Stephen Donovan is stepping down, effective June 30.

Shea tells WBSM News he does see this as his last rodeo, so to speak, and looks forward to making an impression on Acushnet. "Going there I think I can work with anybody there to help them as best I can. So I do see it, even though my wife doesn't believe it, as my last run," said Shea. "But I saw the opportunity and I took it."

Earlier this month, the Acushnet School Committee interviewed two candidates to temporarily fill Donovan's seat, unanimously voting in favor of Shea, who will fill in for a year beginning July 1.

A contract for Shea is being finalized before he takes over.
