An email went out to parents of Durfee students tonight warning of the potential of a gun being brought to school on Tuesday.

The email told parents about students overhearing talk of another student bringing a gun with them tomorrow (Tuesday) and informed them that an increased police presence would be at the school.

The superintendent also recorded a message for parents relaying the same information as the email and telling them they will not be taking any chances with the safety of students and staff.

They encourage parents to talk to their children about the potential threat, though many parents were posting on Facebook about simply keeping their children home.
