NEW BEDFORD - Students at Sgt. William Carney Academy in New Bedford were evacuated early in the school day Tuesday after an electrical odor was detected.

New Bedford Public Schools Community and Public Affairs Manager Arthur Motta says the odor was detected at around 8:30 a.m..

Students and faculty were immediately evacuated for a duration of about 20 minutes while fire officials checked the building.

The source of the odor was deemed to be a failed power supply in a computer.

There were no injuries reported and there was no damage to the building. Motta says at no time were students in any danger.
