WEST BRIDGEWATER — Traffic on Route 24 South came to a screeching halt in West Bridgewater on Monday night as state police responded to the shooting of a man on the highway.

Multiple media outlets report that at approximately 6:15 p.m., an ambulance from the East Bridgewater Fire Department provided medical assistance to an unidentified man, who had been shot in the shoulder. He was transported from the scene to Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton to treat his injuries.

It’s unknown if the man was the driver or passenger of the vehicle, which was seen parked in the breakdown lane with as many as three bullet holes in the driver’s side. The identity of the suspected shooter is unknown at this time.

The vehicle was taken away from the scene by Lynch’s Towing, out of Brockton.

Troopers withheld comment on the ongoing investigation.
