State Police say excessive speed and alcohol are being investigated as possible factors in the fatal one-car crash early Sunday on Route 140.  Police say the car was traveling northbound, just south of exit five, when it left the road, crossed the median and rolled over.  The passenger, 53 year old John Pinho of New Bedford was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, identified as 49 year old Mark Medeiros, also of New Bedford, was transported by helicopter to Rhode Iisland Hospital with serious injuries.  His condition was not available.  The crash remains under investigation.
