State Police Identify Victim In Route 140 Crash

Mass. State Police have identified the man killed in a single car, rollover crash Tuesday morning on Route 140 in New Bedford.

State police say 66-year old Lazaro Rosa of New Bedford lost control of his 2010 Honda as he entered the Philips Road-Church Street Exit from Route 140 southbound.

The vehicle crossed Phillips Road and continued over the onramp to Route 140 south before hitting a tree and coming to rest.

Rosa was pronounced dead at the scene. The exit was closed for about 2 1/2 hours while State Police carried out their investigation.

Police say a preliminary investigation reveals that Rosa may have suffered a medical incident prior to the crash.

New Bedford Fire and EMS assisted at the scene.
