State Grant To Aid English Language Learners In New Bedford

An English Language Learners Acadamy will open next year at New Bedford High School, thanks to a state grant. 

Rep. Antonio Cabral of New Bedford says the district has been awarded a $135,000 grant from the Executive Office of Education. 

Rep. Cabral says the funding will provide additional tools and opportunities for students learning english.......

The money comes from the Gateway Cities Education Agenda, created by lawmakers from 26 Gateway communities and Governor Patrick. 

Cabral says the Agenda is designed to close the acheivement gap by providing financial help for schools in Gateway cities, like New Bedford.
