The Standard-Times is saying goodbye to its editor at the end of the year.

Effective January 1, Editor and Associate Publisher of the Standard-Times Bob Unger is stepping down from the paper.

In a letter to employees, President and Publisher of the SouthCoast Media Group Peter Meyer says Unger "sees this as the right time to pass the reins to a well-prepared team fully committed to serving the community."

Unger served as Editor of the Standard-Times since 2005.
