Four people were injured, including two who were stabbed at the Silver City Galleria Mall.

Massachusetts State Police say the incident occurred shortly after 7 p.m.  Tuesday at the mall after the suspect crashed a motor vehicle into the front of a store.

Two people in the mall were stabbed.

Two other stabbings took place at a home on Myrick St.

State Police say it’s possible that the suspect was involved in an earlier motor vehicle crash on Myrick St. before the stabbings there took place.

A preliminary investigation is indicating that an off-duty law enforcement officer shot the suspect at the mall.

Some of the victims may have sustained life-threatening injuries and were transported to area hospitals.

Units from Taunton Police and Massachusetts State Police responded to the scene.

A mall employee told NBC10 that the mall was locked down at one point.

Around 7:45 p.m. a police dispatcher told WBSM News that the situation was "currently contained."
