One person has been hospitalized after a stabbing outside Talbot Middle School on Monday.

Details remain scarce after an afternoon incident at the corner of Stone and Melrose Streets, very close to the school.

According to NECN, police were called to scene around 3:30 p.m. and one person was later brought to Rhode Island Hospital.

The stabbing seems to have stemmed from an altercation and police do not believe it was a random act. They continue to search for a suspect.

The Fall River Herald spoke with several parents who say they were surprised to see police presence at the school when the arrived to pick up their children. They say they were not given any notice of an altercation near the school.
