New Bedford Police are investigating after a man was stabbed Sunday afternoon.

Detective Captain Steven Vicente says that officers were sent to the 100 block of David St over reports that a man had been stabbed.

Units arrived on scene to find the victim, identified as 26-year-old New Bedford resident, with stab wounds to his upper torso and abdomen areas.

Vicente says it appears the man was stabbed three times.

He was taken to Rhode Island Hospital in critical condition.

Vicente says it's believed that the victim was stabbed during an argument between the victim and another male near the corner of Salisbury and David St.

Police are asking that anyone with information contact Detectives at 508-991-6300 ext. 320 or leave an anonymous tip at 508-961-4584.
