Citing overcrowded buses, the Southeast Regional Transit Authority has begun adding more buses to it's busiest route, the New Bedford/Fall River line. SRTA will soon run buses on "Number Nine" on the half-hour, from 9:30am to 5:30pm on weekdays.

SRTA Administrator Erik Rousseau tells WBSM News when more people are opting for public transportation, you add more buses. "In the last four years, we're looking at almost a 50% increase in ridership. And this route alone makes up almost 10% of our overall ridership. So, it has seen quite a few more passengers over the last few years," said Rousseau.

The increased service will begin in mid-to-late August, and will continue through June of 2016.
