Newly acquired starting pitcher Drew Pomeranz looked like he was off to a nice start in his Boston Red Sox debut, in front of the Fenway faithful, until the fourth inning that is.

After three scoreless innings against the San Francisco Giants, Wednesday night, the lefty hit a wall and was roughed up by his former division rival.

The former San Diego Padre was tagged for two home runs and five earned runs in the fourth inning, before being pulled by manager John Farrell.

By the end of his night, Pomeranz' line read like this; 3 innings pitched, 8 hits, 5 earned runs, 2 walks, 4 strikeouts, 2 homers and a whopping 15.00 American League ERA. That's a far cry fro the 2.47 ERA he had posted so far this season with San Diego.

The good news for Pomeranz is that his team saved him, this time around, by hanging 11 runs on the Giants pitching staff and walking about with an 11-7 win. Also one start doesn't close the book on his Boston tenure. He'll get a chance to redeem himself and, based on his numbers over the past few seasons, he should bounce back.
