After a somewhat surprisingly quiet trade deadline from the Boston Red Sox yesterday, the team has decided to call up one of it's top prospects; outfielder Andrew Benintendi.

Benintendi, the 2015 Golden Spikes Award winner from Arkansas, was selected with the fifth overall pick in the 2015 draft and has tore up the minor leagues so far.

The 22-year-old has put together an impressive slash line of .312/.392/.540 with a .932 OPS, 20 home runs and 107 RBI in his brief professional career, as he's spent time at three different Class A levels and Class AA Portland.

His .295/.357/.515 slash line the past 63 games at Portland has obviously caught the eye of the Boston brass and has given them the confidence that a stint a Triple-A Pawtucket wouldn't serve much of a purpose for the fledgling star.

Benintendi now looks to join a Red Sox outfield anchored by center fielder Jackie Bradley Jr. and right fielder Mookie Betts. He figures to fit into left field alongside those two, in place of Brock Holt and Bryce Brentz who had been platooning there.

It's unclear when Benintendi will make his debut and how much he'll play, though if the front office decided it was the right call to bring him straight up form Double-A to the Show, he'll probably be penciled into the lineup regularly.
