Southcoast Fire Safety Programs to Continue with State Grants

Southcoast fire departments have received a combined $40,000 in funding to continue fire safety training.

The state grants will go toward the departments' Student Awareness of Fire Education, or SAFE program, and the Senior SAFE program.

The programs bring fire safety tips to schools and senior centers.

New Bedford received nearly $15,000, with Acushnet, Dartmouth, Fairhaven, and Mattapoisett each receiving under $8,000.
