Those who have prescription drugs they no longer use will be able to turn in them on Saturday no questions asked.

Due to the fact that prescription drugs are legal people often assume they aren't as big a concern as illegal narcotics.

However, New Bedford Detective Captain Steven Vicente says that even though they're legal that doesn't mean they can't be dangerous.

"Like any other drugs, some of these are habit forming, they can lead to addiction, and they could lead to problems, like the heroin problem we're having today," said Vicente.

New Bedford is among the southcoast communities taking part in National Drug Take Back Day, which is a joint venture between the Drug Enforcement Administration and local communities.
