Southcoast Autism Center, an intensive Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) center for autistic children, will open its second location at 657 Quarry Street in Fall River this September in addition to their original Fairhaven location at 69 Main Street, according to center owner and executive director Dr. Sinead Petersen.

According to South Coast Today.com, the center is home to some of the region’s most skilled, acclaimed therapists, and is widely recognized as a leader in early intervention, and serves children on the autism spectrum –both verbal and non-verbal – ranging in age from 18 months to 18 years. “We are delighted to be coming to Fall River and are looking forward to working with children and their families in this area,” Petersen said in a news release. "One of our goals is to educate families on the availability of intensive early intervention services. Regrettably, the availability of these services is something that many families, and even pediatricians, are not aware of.

Also, there is not enough information known about the fact that there is insurance coverage which can provide for many of these services and make a real difference in the child’s and family’s lives.” Petersen said that the Fall River center will host an Open House this fall, and that the Fairhaven center will continue to serve families in the Fairhaven-Dartmouth-New Bedford region.
