South Shore Hospital in Weymouth has launched an internal review after two recent childbirth-related deaths. A Middleboro mother of four died at the hospital Wednesday after giving birth to a healthy girl. In December a nurse died after giving birth to a boy. In a statement, the hospital says it believes the deaths were "unpreventable." Around five Massachusetts women die every year from complications of childbirth.
