Somerset will hold a Public Safety Day on Saturday, October 1, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Police/Fire Complex located at 465 County St.

According to South Coast Today.com, "some of the activities at the event will include a K-9 demonstration with [the] Somerset Police Department officer and handler Jared Linhares with Viepo and the Bristol County Sheriff's Department."

New equipment will also be on display, including a motorcycle, according to Somerset Police Chief George McNeil.

Home Depot will also have an area for its public safety display and there will be stands with information about public safety, including information and drugs and opioids, which has been an increasing problem throughout the state, according to Somerset Police Chief George McNeil.

The Police Department will be selling tee shirts to raise money for new equipment for the officers. The shirts are available in short sleeves for $20 and long sleeves for $25.
