Over three years since first being approved by Town Meeting, Fairhaven's solar power project at the former Bridge Street Landfill is nearing completion. Developer Blue Sky Power and contractor Dynamic Solar went before the town's Board of Selectmen Monday to present construction schedules and an update on the project. Blue Sky's Jack Eggleston says it'll be a big relief when the project finally comes on-line.

The $2.5 million dollar project encountered several delays in securing financing and acquiring permits from NSTAR Electric, but is now slated to begin generating power sometime in January. The electricity generated by the solar farm is expected to save Fairhaven about $500 thousand dollars in energy costs over the next 30 years.
