The Buttonwood Park Zoo says there was a software glitch Tuesday night during its Art Gone Wild online auction.

A post on the zoo's website says that third-party provided software caused the auction to close several hours prior to its original scheduled closing time.

Upon closing the auction, the software notified the current highest bidder by email that they won the auction for each piece.

Zoo officials say the glitch was not the fault of the Zoological Society or the outside designers the Society contracts for its website.

Although staff and outside software experts worked for hours to address the problem zoo officials say they were unable to restart the auction.
