Continued snowfall through Thursday's morning commute made for long traffic delays throughout the Southcoast. Drivers are urged to continue to use caution as many roads are untreated and icy.

The National Weather Service has released the following statement on today's snowfall:

Light to moderate snow is moving rapidly eastward at 9 am and has now exited Connecticut with the back edge across Rhode Island. For  the remainder of the morning accumulating snow will be confined to southeast Massachusetts especially Cape Cod and the islands. Total snowfall across this area will be 2 to 3 inches with low
visibility and snow covered roads.

Snow exits offshore between 10 am and noon with dry weather and partial sunshine this afternoon. Temperatures remain cold along with a brisk northwest wind developing late in the day as offshore low pressure intensifies.
