The New Bedford Bay Sox will help battle diabetes this weekend with the SlamDiabetes Bay Sox Classic at Walsh Field at New Bedford High School.

The Wiffle® Ball tournament will raise money to help send local kids to day camps where they can learn how to better manage their disease.

“That takes education and opportunity to learn about that,” says tournament chair Mike Nailor “so that’s what we’re hoping this provides.”

Nailor says the tournament has been able to raise money for several local kids over its three years. Kids like his daughter Maggie who often battle diabetes without others knowing.

“It’s very much an invisible disease so you wouldn’t know she has it,” says Nailor.

The SlamDiabetes Bay Sox Classic will take place this Saturday at 9 am at Walsh Field. To learn more visit their website.
