New Bedford Police are investigating after gunshots were reported Wednesday afternoon.

Detective Captain Steven Vicente says that at around 4 p.m. units from the South End were sent to the area of Roosevelt St. and Ruth St. over reports of shots being fired.

Upon arrival investigators learned that an altercation had taken place in the street regarding two males.

Vicente says that one of the occupants of the suspect vehicle, described as a black Honda Civic, fired shots out of the window while fleeing the scene.

A parked vehicle belonging to one of the combatants was struck with one round while three rounds struck a home on the second floor level.

No injuries were reported.
