That pit bull-mix puppy who was found shot in Westport will get to keep his wounded leg after all. Heather Gutshall, co-founder of Handsome Dan's Rescue for Pit Bull type dogs in Cranston, Rhode Island says that everything looks way better than they ever expected.

The year-old puppy, who was temporarily named Liam, had a cast fitted to his wounded leg by veterinarians at Ocean State Veterinary Specialists in East Greenwich, R.I., yesterday after they determined an amputation was unnecessary. The shelter plans to turn Liam over to a foster home soon and the puppy is officially up for adoption as of Tuesday. The shelter has received more than a dozen calls from prospective adoptive families
