Black Friday has kicked off the holiday shopping season in Massachusetts after thousands of shoppers lined up in freezing overnight temperatures and others got up early to snag the best bargains.  For the first time ever, the Dartmouth Mall opened at midnight, and there was a line of shoppers outside the Sears entrance.  Danial Raposo (pictured below) of New Bedford and his tent were first in line early Friday at Best Buy in Dartmouth.  He's a veteran of the Black Friday shopping experience.

Raposo said he was in the market for two large-screen t-v's.  Others say they visit the stores just to people-watch.

Bay State residents said Friday they are shopping smarter this year, sniffing out great bargains online and doing a lot more comparison shopping.
