Shoplifting At Wareham Wal-Mart Leads To Three Arrests
Wareham Police arrest three people after a shoplifting incident in the town. Wal-Mart employees alerted police of the theft of a notebook computer Thursday afternoon, describing the two suspects and the getaway vehicle.
Police soon spotted the vehicle about a mile away from the Wal-Mart. The laptop was located by police between the front seats.
Two occupants in the car were identified as the suspects who stole the computer. Police searched the suspects, 50-year-old Valerie Cornwell of Osterville, and 45-year-old Jonathan Santos of New Bedford, and found pills believed to be Hydroxyzine and a syringe in Cornwell's possession.
Cornwell and Santos were arrested, along with another occupant, 30-year-old Michael Carey of Watertown who has four outstanding felony warrants issued by Boston courts.
Santos and Cornwell face charges of larceny over $250, with Cornwell also charged with possession of a Class E substance. All three individuals were arraigned in Wareham District Court.
