Shooting In New Bedford

Police are investigating after a New Bedford man was shot outside his apartment Sunday morning.

Detective Captain Steven Vicente says officers responded to the 200 block of Sawyer St. around 11:30 a.m.

Upon arrival officers spoke with the victim, identified as a 32-year-old man, who said that he had been shot a couple of times in the legs by someone he knows.

The man was taken to Rhode Island Hospital with non life threatening injuries.

Vicente says Detectives are trying to identify a suspect, but at this time there is no known motive for the shooting.
