Shawmut Diner Moving Out, Cumberland Farms Moving In

New Bedford's Shawmut Diner is moving.

Owners Phil and Celeste Paleologos have announced the sale of the property at 943 Shawmut Avenue to Cumberland Farms.

The Paleologos' say they plan to find a new home for the diner itself, which will be moved from its present location at the corner of Shawmut Avenue and Hathaway Road.

It will take about a year for the sale to finalize.

Phil Paleologos says employees have been notified of the coming changes, and the diner will continue to operate during its regular hours until the sale and permitting is complete.

A representative from Cumberland Farms also indicated it is their desire to see the Shawmut Diner relocated to a new home and continue to serve the community.
