The Shawmut Diner is being moved from its current location to the Bristol County House of Corrections in Dartmouth. The Paleologos family decided to donated the long time eatery to the jail to serve as a teaching tool for inmates to learn about the food service industry.

Sheriff Tom Hodgson accepted the donation and said the diner will help many inmates return to be productive members of society.

The family recently closed the diner and there has been speculation about its future. The diner will be lifted from its current location onto a truck on Friday morning and transported  the jail on Tuesday.
